About this policy
Matriarchies is a project operated by Crimson Olive LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”).
This page is a short, honest account of how the waitlist uses what you share. It is not a compliance badge.
Who we are
The controller for this waitlist is the operator named above.
It is run independently as Matriarchies.
For privacy questions: hello@matriarchies.com.
Established in New Mexico, United States.
Age
This waitlist is meant for people 16 or older. It isn’t directed at young children. We don’t verify age on the form; if we learn someone joined outside that expectation, we may remove the entry.
When Matriarchies hosts circles or activities, younger people may take part with an accompanying adult. Consent to join or form a circle is handled in that activity’s own process, separate from signing up on this waitlist.
What we collect
When you join or manage your waitlist, we may keep:
- City or place, a catalog pick and/or your own words. You can skip this.
- The directions you choose, and any “Something else” lines
- Wishes, and how you’d like to take part
- Whether you’d like occasional updates (yes or no)
- When you join, a short note of how you arrived (for example instagram, or unknown), optional link tags, and the referring site name only. This tab holds that note until you submit. It stays with your signup. We don’t send it to an analytics company.
- Technical signals needed to run the site safely, for example approximate connection information used for bot checks and rate limits, plus cookies and similar (below). We use these to protect the form, not to build a profile of you.
You can join without verifying email first. A magic link is how we know you can open that inbox when you manage your entry.
Why
To run the Matriarchies waitlist: remember what you want and where, reach you when something can start near you (and send updates if you asked for them), let you change or remove your entry, protect the form from abuse, and see which of our links or posts helped you find us, not to sell ads or profile you elsewhere.
How we’re allowed to use it
We only use what you share when we have a clear reason:
- Your waitlist entry (email, place, directions, wishes, how you’d take part, and the short note of how you arrived): you asked to join; we use this to run Matriarchies and respond to you (steps toward what you requested, and where needed our legitimate interest in a workable waitlist and knowing which of our links helped you find us).
- Magic link, Manage, and removal notices, needed to let you update or erase what you shared (same footing as running the waitlist).
- Occasional updates / newsletter, only if you opted in (consent). Stop anytime via Manage or by writing us.
- Protecting the form (bot checks, rate limits, and similar technical signals): our legitimate interest in preventing abuse and keeping the service reliable.
How long we keep something (for example the removal grace window) follows those same uses; it isn’t a separate permission.
We do not need a separate tick for every technical cookie that makes join, sign-in, or same-visit email correction; those support the uses above.
Your rights
You can ask to see, update, or remove waitlist information we hold for you.
The safest way is Manage my interests after a magic link to your email: that proves you can open the inbox, and you can view, edit, or remove your entry there.
If you write hello@matriarchies.com instead, we only help with a specific address after we can confirm you control that inbox (for example by sending a link to it, or asking you to write from it). We will not share someone else’s waitlist details just because an email address was named in a message.
If you opted into occasional updates, you can turn that off in Manage or ask us to stop once we’ve confirmed the inbox.
Depending on where you live, you may also ask for a copy, corrections, deletion, limits on use, or to object to certain processing. Write us and we’ll explain what we can do. You can contact a data-protection authority in your country if you believe we’ve mishandled your information. Confirming with us first often resolves things fastest.
We don’t make solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you based on your waitlist information. A future Demand Map would use counts and patterns (for example by city or direction), not an automated judgment about you as a person.
Who helps run this
- Netlify hosts the site
- Supabase holds the waitlist and passwordless magic-link sign-in
- Resend sends transactional mail: magic links through Auth, and the notice when removal is scheduled
- Cloudflare Turnstile checks public join and send-link
- Upstash applies rate limits on those same public paths
Some of these companies run their systems in the United States and other countries. When they handle waitlist information for us, it may be processed there. We rely on their contracts and protections for that kind of transfer (for example standard contractual clauses or similar terms where they use them). You can read more in each provider’s own privacy documentation.
We do not sell the waitlist as a marketing list, and we don’t rent emails to strangers. We use what you shared to run this waitlist and to understand demand in aggregate (for example city or direction counts for a future Demand Map: counts and patterns, not a public list of who you are). If we start using waitlist information for a materially new purpose, we’ll update this policy first.
When we share
Besides the companies that help us run the site, we may share waitlist information only in limited cases:
- If the law requires it (for example a valid legal request).
- If Matriarchies is sold, merged, or transferred as a project, then information may move with it to the new operator, still under a privacy commitment like this one.
- As counts and patterns that don’t identify you (the same kind of aggregate demand view described above).
We don’t sell your email as a marketing list.
Email we may send
Some mail is part of running the waitlist: magic links to Manage, and notices when removal is scheduled. We send those because you used join or Manage, not because you joined a newsletter.
Occasional Matriarchies updates are different. We only send those if you opted in. You can turn them off in Manage, or write us (we’ll confirm the inbox first).
Cookies and similar
The waitlist needs a few cookies (and similar). There is no cookie banner for this.
- If the site is temporarily locked with a shared password, the browser keeps a cookie so you don’t re-enter it on every page
- After you open a magic link, a session cookie keeps you signed in so you can manage your waitlist
- Cloudflare Turnstile may use what their check requires when you join or request a link
- For a short time after a first join, a small httpOnly cookie is used only for same-visit Wrong email? Fix it
Bot checks and rate limits may use your IP address (or similar connection data) for a short time so one network can’t flood join or “send link.” Our rate-limit tool keeps those counters only as long as the limit window needs. Hosting and security tools may also keep brief operational logs.
We don’t use this for advertising or to score who you are. We don’t sell it.
How long, and how to erase
Your live waitlist entry stays until you remove it, or until we permanently delete it after the grace window.
If you remove it from Manage, we schedule removal. You have about 14 days to restore. After that we delete it for good, including the linked sign-in when nothing else needs it.
Draft updates waiting to be confirmed last about 75 minutes. The same-visit typo-fix cookie lasts about 30 minutes.
To see or erase your entry: open Manage my interests after a magic link, then Remove my waitlist entry, or write hello@matriarchies.com.
Wrong email? Fix it on thank-you is separate: it only corrects a mistaken first join on that same visit. You may still see the control after other successful submits; it won’t remove an entry that was already on the waitlist. It is not the same as Manage Remove.
The public form will not tell you whether an email is already on the list.
